Introduction to Pezzottaite Gemstone
The new research and discoveries are part and
parcel of the gem industry. Every year gem scientists and traders work hard to
discover new gemstones and develop new technologies with the intent of
advancing this field. Eventually, the invention or discovery of the new stone
pezzottaite an example of their efforts; pezzottiate is a stone which is
constituted of beryllium, lithium and aluminum.
The stone has been named after
a prominent Italian geologist and mineralogist Federico Pezzotta. The gemstone pezzottaite was approved by the
renowned institute International Mineralogist Association in 2003. Earlier,
pezzotta proposed the name red beryl for this stone due to the presence of red
beryl in the stone.
Nevertheless, besides beryl there were another two
important materials that aid in forming this stone which is lithium and
aluminium. Thus, ultimately, this stone was named after the name of federico
pezzotta.
This stone is advertised or market by the name
of rasp beryl in the market. The color
of this stone ranges from light red to orange and pink. The diverse number of
the color this offers due to the presence of the mineral beryl that reflects
different colors.
Unlike other stone which are excavated from the mines the
latter one size merely reaches 7 cm and the shape of this stone is triangular
filled up with liquid on edges. The actual weight of this stone is around one
or two carat maximally.
Origin of the Pezzottaite Gemstone
The
pezzottaite gemstone is excavated from the mines of Madagascar, Afghanistan.
The latter one is immensely famous for providing best quality pezzottaite
gemstone. On the parameter of physical characteristics this stone is similar to
beryl stone. The hardness of this stone is 8.0 which is identical to beryl
stone.
However, the refractive index, birefringence and specific gravity of this stone exceed beryl. The value of red
beryl gemstone is more than pezzottaite stone by the reason of its high color
characteristics and saturation. In recent time, few specimens of pezzottaite
gemstones are sold as red beryl gemstone.
Therefore, while buying the red beryl one should subtly evaluate the
quality and color parameter of this stone.
